African-American hair is really hard to tackle. It is a character on its own. When I was growing I resented my black curly hair. It wasn't the big, beautiful curls you would imagine. It was small tight curls that are so hard to brush. It doesn't straighten no matter how many times I run it through the blow dryer. I just wanted straight hair back then. But as I became older, I came to accept and embrace my African-American hair. I can wear it curly, or if I want it straight for a while I go to my favorite beauty salon whee my regular stylists knows what to do.
